How to Shop at an Antique Fair Or Car-Boot Sale

Posted by admin

Have a shopping list ready; it is easy to get distracted by so many attractive items on display. Set priorities to ensure that if you do not get to the bottom of your list you will not miss something you really did wish to find.

What is your budget? Decide the target prices of the items you want. An internet search should show what similar items are selling for and an eBay search will show what are the most sought after items.

Get there early as the best items will be snatched up quickly. The serious buyers will be waiting for the gate to open! Make sure you can find your car again easily – choose something prominent as a landmark – having a little flag on your car aerial is a good idea. Wear comfortable shoes and a hat for protection in the Summer.

You cannot carry all the items on your shopping list so take a trolley or large bags with you so you do not have to waste time returning to your car. Do not forget to take packaging material with you for large items – spare blankets and ropes may be necessary for the larger items or pieces of furniture.

Take a friend with you – two of you can cover more stalls than one. Use your mobile phones to keep in contact so that you can roam more freely.

Do not wast valuable time standing in queues for refreshments – take you own drinks and sandwiches with you.

Have plenty of cash – it is easier to bargain with cash in your hand rather than a credit card or checkbook.

Good Hunting!
